Attention Passengers, this is the Train Station Master. Have you seen our list of available Tickets at our Ticket Booth? If you have, it's time to put in a Claim for your favourite Ticket! Before you get started, here are some Rules to remember while you're waiting in line at the Ticket Booth...

Ticket Booth Rules:
  1. Claiming is first come, first serve - which means you might not get your first prompt!
  2. You may claim more than one Ticket, but you must submit your completed first Fan Fiction before claiming another Ticket.
  3. You do not have to have DreamWidth to join, but you will be required to provide an e-mail address and a second platform username for the Train Conductors to contact you (AFF, AO3, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.)
  4. This year's fest has no word count minimum! All we ask is that you put your best, creative foot forward.
  5. Of course, if you need an extension, please contact the Train Conductors to make arrangements!
  6. There will also be no drop-out date - all we ask is that you let us know if you will be getting off of the Train so that your claimed prompt can be re-opened and our records can be updated.
  7. There is no penalty for dropping a prompt or exiting the Train early. You may re-claim a prompt and re-enter the Train all before it leaves the Station!
  8. Should any problems arise, the Train Conductors will do their best to work out a solution for you.
  9. If we receive no check-in on the designated date, we will contact you at the end of the week to check on you. We will allow a week for a response, but after that time, we will assume that you would prefer to drop your prompt.
  10. Please do not reveal yourself while the Train is in motion/the fest is ongoing! Do not reply to comments on your fic until the fest is over - this is meant to by anonymous until reveals.
  11. Of course, you are allowed to discuss your prompts with your beta(s).
  12. If you have any questions about a prompt for the prompter, you can contact one of the Conductors and they will contact the prompter on your behalf.
  13. Confirmation e-mails will be sent out within 48 hours of your claim! If you don't receive an e-mail from us after 48 hours of your claim, then we didn't receive it.
  14. Please note that all submitted final fics will be subject to the Conductors' Review. We will be searching for any signs of plagiarism, checking for unmarked triggers or warnings, as well as reviewing the content for the rating. If we find any problems with your submitted work, we will contact you about it.
  15. If we've said it once, we've said it a million times: DO NOT PLAGIARIZE IN ANY WAY! Plagiarizing is illegal!
  16. Most importantly, above all of the rules, have fun! We want you to enjoy writing your prompts and exploring history with us!

Ticket Claim Form:

E-Mail: Please provide an active/frequently checked e-mail address! This is how we will send out reminders and how we expect to receive your check-ins + final submission.

Secondary Contact: In case one of the Conductors is unable to reach you through your e-mail, we will use this as a second way to contact you.

First Class Ticket No.: Your number one, absolute favourite prompt!

Business Class Ticket No.: Your number two, okay-this-one-isn't-the-first, but also a great prompt!

Economy Class Ticket No.: Your number three, definitely-not-the-two-above, but also a pretty good prompt!

  2. You do not have to claim a prompt if you submit one + you do not have to submit a prompt to claim one later
  3. Make sure the prompts that you are submitting are Historical AU! The time frame for the majority* of the story must take place before the 21st century (*for more on this subject, please read our Train Guidelines)

Minseok is a spy who falls in love with Prince Luhan.

    Bad Prompt: Too Specific
Minseok has trained all of his life to become the perfect spy. When he is sent to China to assassinate the future Emperor, he does not expect to meet someone like Prince Luhan. Luhan was left the throne as a young boy, but now that he is coming of age, he causes a threat to the power threshold. Minseok arrives a week before Luhan's birthday under the guise of Xiumin - a top notch bodyguard - who will protect Luhan from potential threats. Little does Luhan know that Xiumin/Minseok is his greatest threat. That is until Minseok begins to fall in love and somewhere along the way he realizes he might fail his mission.

    Good Prompt:
Minseok is a talented Korean spy sent to infiltrate the Chinese court in order to assassinate Prince Luhan, by becoming his personal bodyguard.

  Welcome Aboard The Timeline EXOpress!

Introduction

Welcome to Timeline Station where your Train Conductors (Star, Moon, and Sun) will guide you to your historical destination! The Conductors would like to welcome you to board the Timeline EXOpress, the first and only Historical AU, EXO-centric fic fest! From the early bronze age until the 21st century, we are here to help you find your way to your favourite time period along the Timeline Railway.

Train Etiquette Guide
  • Authors, Poets, and Artists are invited to board the Train this year!
  • Fics (or poems) must be Historical AU! Any time period is okay, but no fics may take place in the 21st century.* The further back in history you go, the better! The Train will stop at all eras!
  • *The theme of time travel/reincarnation that takes place in the 21st century will be allowed, as long as the majority of the fic takes place in the past!
  • These do not have to be historically accurate! While accuracies are nice, this is fictional work and it is not meant to reflect history. It is simply meant to take place in history.
  • Minimal word count: none! Write as little or as much as you can/want!
  • Other AUs can be added to the fic/prompt, as long as the premise remains historical. EX: A Royalty AU in the Middle Ages or a University AU in the late 1800s.
  • EXO members, past and present, are permitted to board the Train. We support OT12 in this Station.
  • The main pairing must be EXO/EXO, but other groups are permitted to board the Train to make appearances or to be included in side pairings.
  • OCs are permitted to board the Train this year!
  • M-preg, gender bend, ABO, smut and OT3+ pairings will be allowed!
  • Some topics will be excluded from the fest, please see below for the list.
  • You do not have to have a DreamWidth to join the fest, but you must have an e-mail address, as well as a second way for the Train Conductors to contact you (AFF, AO3, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.)
  • Please do not reveal yourself while the Train is in motion/the fest is ongoing. Do not reply to comments on your fic until the fest is over - this is meant to be anonymous until the reveals. (We wouldn't want to spoil the fun!)
  • Do not plagiarize in any way! Plagiarizing is illegal!
  • Extension arrangements can be made if needed, please contact the Train Conductors ASAP if you need one.
  • There will not be a drop-out date, however, please let us know if you will be getting off the Train so that your claimed prompt can be re-opened.
  • There is no penalty for dropping a prompt or exiting the Train early. You may re-claim a prompt and re-enter the Train (fest) all before it leaves the Station!
  • There will be 2 check-ins - an informal and formal one. The informal one is just to be sure that you're still on board while the formal one is a progress check that requires a draft. Both check-ins will be expected to be received within the week of the official due date. E-mail reminders will be sent out!

Train Warnings & Safety Procedures

Due to the harsh and often disturbing nature of history, our guidelines will be quite different from other fic fests. Timeline Station is thus going to open its doors to taboo topics that most fests tend to avoid. This is to keep the realism of the historical periods which are being represented - please do NOT abuse this freedom. If you are unsure whether or not your prompt contains sensitive material, please contact the Train Conductors for help!

1. These themes will be permitted: incest*, pseudo-incest, mental illness**, homophobia, self-harm, suicide, infidelity, excessive violence, blood, gore, war, dub-con, age gaps***, extreme kinks, underage sex****, & underage marriage*****.

*Please see point 2 for continued information on this theme.
**Try to refrain from mental illnesses that you may not know anything about, unless you plan to research it. This is a sensitive topic for those who actually have mental illnesses.
***Age gaps are only permitted if the romantic/sexual relationships are between characters over the age of 18.
****Underage sex will only be allowed if both parties are under 18. It will be considered pedophilia if one party is over 18 while one is under 18.
*****Underage marriage is accepted as long as there are no romantic/sexual relationships between a character under 18 and a character over 18.
Implications or mentions of any of the above will be tolerated, so long as it is not explicitly stated.

EX:
Incest: Brothers Tao and Luhan are forced to marry to keep their bloodline
Mental Illness: Yixing experiences PTSD after the war is over.
Underage sex: Seventeen year old Jongin bedded sixteen year old Sehun on their wedding night
Underage marriage: Fifteen year old Junmyeon is to marry twenty-four year old Yifan

If you will be writing about any of the topics mentioned in point 1, please fill in the "trigger warning" on our form.

2. These themes will not be permitted under any circumstances, regardless of their historical accuracy: pedophilia*, explicit incestual smut**, non-con/rape.

*The main characters, if in a romantic/sexual relationship, must be over 18. No exceptions.
**Implied sexual encounters are accepted based on the prompt.

The Train Conductors have the right to discard any prompts that are deemed unfit and that comply with anything in point 2.

Prompts that are received with any of the Triggering topics previously mentioned will be clearly marked in the prompt Archives and during postings. Any prompts that include smut or kinks of any kind will be clearly marked as NSFW during postings.

Because of the severity of some of these themes, any fics marked with the "trigger" option will be reviewed by the Train Conductors before posting. If we deem your story unfit to post, we will let you know and ask you to either omit or change the questionable content.

Thank you for understanding!
