  Welcome Aboard The Timeline EXOpress!

Introduction

Welcome to Timeline Station where your Train Conductors (Star, Moon, and Sun) will guide you to your historical destination! The Conductors would like to welcome you to board the Timeline EXOpress, the first and only Historical AU, EXO-centric fic fest! From the early bronze age until the 21st century, we are here to help you find your way to your favourite time period along the Timeline Railway.

Train Etiquette Guide
  • Authors, Poets, and Artists are invited to board the Train this year!
  • Fics (or poems) must be Historical AU! Any time period is okay, but no fics may take place in the 21st century.* The further back in history you go, the better! The Train will stop at all eras!
  • *The theme of time travel/reincarnation that takes place in the 21st century will be allowed, as long as the majority of the fic takes place in the past!
  • These do not have to be historically accurate! While accuracies are nice, this is fictional work and it is not meant to reflect history. It is simply meant to take place in history.
  • Minimal word count: none! Write as little or as much as you can/want!
  • Other AUs can be added to the fic/prompt, as long as the premise remains historical. EX: A Royalty AU in the Middle Ages or a University AU in the late 1800s.
  • EXO members, past and present, are permitted to board the Train. We support OT12 in this Station.
  • The main pairing must be EXO/EXO, but other groups are permitted to board the Train to make appearances or to be included in side pairings.
  • OCs are permitted to board the Train this year!
  • M-preg, gender bend, ABO, smut and OT3+ pairings will be allowed!
  • Some topics will be excluded from the fest, please see below for the list.
  • You do not have to have a DreamWidth to join the fest, but you must have an e-mail address, as well as a second way for the Train Conductors to contact you (AFF, AO3, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.)
  • Please do not reveal yourself while the Train is in motion/the fest is ongoing. Do not reply to comments on your fic until the fest is over - this is meant to be anonymous until the reveals. (We wouldn't want to spoil the fun!)
  • Do not plagiarize in any way! Plagiarizing is illegal!
  • Extension arrangements can be made if needed, please contact the Train Conductors ASAP if you need one.
  • There will not be a drop-out date, however, please let us know if you will be getting off the Train so that your claimed prompt can be re-opened.
  • There is no penalty for dropping a prompt or exiting the Train early. You may re-claim a prompt and re-enter the Train (fest) all before it leaves the Station!
  • There will be 2 check-ins - an informal and formal one. The informal one is just to be sure that you're still on board while the formal one is a progress check that requires a draft. Both check-ins will be expected to be received within the week of the official due date. E-mail reminders will be sent out!

Train Warnings & Safety Procedures

Due to the harsh and often disturbing nature of history, our guidelines will be quite different from other fic fests. Timeline Station is thus going to open its doors to taboo topics that most fests tend to avoid. This is to keep the realism of the historical periods which are being represented - please do NOT abuse this freedom. If you are unsure whether or not your prompt contains sensitive material, please contact the Train Conductors for help!

1. These themes will be permitted: incest*, pseudo-incest, mental illness**, homophobia, self-harm, suicide, infidelity, excessive violence, blood, gore, war, dub-con, age gaps***, extreme kinks, underage sex****, & underage marriage*****.

*Please see point 2 for continued information on this theme.
**Try to refrain from mental illnesses that you may not know anything about, unless you plan to research it. This is a sensitive topic for those who actually have mental illnesses.
***Age gaps are only permitted if the romantic/sexual relationships are between characters over the age of 18.
****Underage sex will only be allowed if both parties are under 18. It will be considered pedophilia if one party is over 18 while one is under 18.
*****Underage marriage is accepted as long as there are no romantic/sexual relationships between a character under 18 and a character over 18.
Implications or mentions of any of the above will be tolerated, so long as it is not explicitly stated.

EX:
Incest: Brothers Tao and Luhan are forced to marry to keep their bloodline
Mental Illness: Yixing experiences PTSD after the war is over.
Underage sex: Seventeen year old Jongin bedded sixteen year old Sehun on their wedding night
Underage marriage: Fifteen year old Junmyeon is to marry twenty-four year old Yifan

If you will be writing about any of the topics mentioned in point 1, please fill in the "trigger warning" on our form.

2. These themes will not be permitted under any circumstances, regardless of their historical accuracy: pedophilia*, explicit incestual smut**, non-con/rape.

*The main characters, if in a romantic/sexual relationship, must be over 18. No exceptions.
**Implied sexual encounters are accepted based on the prompt.

The Train Conductors have the right to discard any prompts that are deemed unfit and that comply with anything in point 2.

Prompts that are received with any of the Triggering topics previously mentioned will be clearly marked in the prompt Archives and during postings. Any prompts that include smut or kinks of any kind will be clearly marked as NSFW during postings.

Because of the severity of some of these themes, any fics marked with the "trigger" option will be reviewed by the Train Conductors before posting. If we deem your story unfit to post, we will let you know and ask you to either omit or change the questionable content.

Thank you for understanding!

How can I say "Thank You"?

Hello, this is your Train Station Master, Snow. When this journey first began back in the summer, all I had was an idea and the desire to write. Conductor Lemon joined me early on, taking a lot of the responsibility along with me as our travels all began. If you're wondering, C. Lemon is fine! She just needed a break, but that's not my story to tell. So, the tracks became a little unstable as we traveled together. We faced many unexpected obstacles, but I couldn't give up. I recruited Conductors Sun and Moon and they filled in when I needed it most. This Fest would not have begun if it were not for the encouragement from C. Lemon. This Fest would have stalled a lot longer if it were not from the support and assistance from C. Sun and C. Moon. I can't thank them enough for allowing this Fest to come into existence and make it all the way until the end. I can't thank our MVPs enough for their patience and their persistence that made our first round such a success despite the bumps along the way. I can't thank out Passengers enough who showed so much love, care, dedication, and support to us from the beginning until the very end. You have all made this Fest so worth while and I am still blown away by the love we've received. I don't know how to thank you all - words are just not enough. I'm so thankful for everything you have all contributed to this Fest that made our first round such a success!

Here's to possible future rounds & the success of Round One ~ Cheers!

Love your friendly Conductor,
ChooChoo,
C. Snow

Junmyeon, in turn, wants to escape — and it seems that Yifan offers him just that: a way out.

DAY 12

No Place for Saints
Baekhyun/D.O | T+ | 8.9K words
When Kyungsoo - a highly efficient assassin - and Baekhyun - a bounty hunter who prefers to bring his targets in dead rather than alive - get hired to take each other out, they accept without thinking twice. Surely, it's the universe telling them to finish the grudge match that's been on hold for years now. They don't stop to think that there may be ulterior motives in setting them on each other, a misstep that might cost them their lives if they don't suck it up and learn to work together.

starchild (originally: star light, star bright)
Kai/Lay | M | 9.5K words
Abused by his stepfather and two stepbrothers, all Jongin wants is a chance to go to the ball and meet the prince, maybe talk to him about the condition of the poor in his kingdom and offer to work at the palace.
All very straightforward.
But upon meeting his royal highness Zhang Yixing, things go very differently.

DAY 13

Hallucinogenic
Baekhyun/Lay | E | 16.4K words
Baekhyun mistakes an opium den for an antique shop. While looking for a tea canister, he finds someone much more intriguing.

DAY 14

A Conspiracy of Dunces
D.O/Kai | G | 6K words
Tired of watching noble Jongin pine for absent-minded inventor Kyungsoo, Sehun forms a conspiracy with the goal to end his suffering...and bring those two idiots together.

Dust To Dust
D.O/Kai | PG-13 | 5.3K words
In the Queen's royal service is a watchdog, a youthful and powerful lord who supervises the dealings of England's underground society. Like the faithful man he is to her majesty, there is a butler by his side who is just as formidable. Together, they are the ultimate duo of master and servant; destined to collide and fallout just as graceful.

DAY 15

electric blue
Kai/Lay/Sehun | E | 21.9K words
Minseok sent his younger brother to China to forge an alliance between the empires. Falling in love with the emperor while at it was a bonus. Falling in love with his concubine, on the other side, was a disaster waiting to happen—or so Jongin thought.

DAY 16

Twirling in the night
Kai/Suho | T+ | 14.4K words
The Devil Dancer. The cat burglar that had been the terror of London’s high society for the past two months. He was exceptionally skilled at breaking, entering and leaving without being seen and obviously caught. Junmyeon’s squadron had been assigned to the case after the first robbery was reported to the Metropolitan Police. They had thought that it would be quite easy to capture the culprit but boy were the terribly mistaken.

DAY 17

The Dead Man In Bucks Row
Kai/Sehun | E | 24.9K words
The dead man in Bucks Row came along with a dark secret and a helping hand Jongin did not have on his radar.

Jar of Flies
Kai/Sehun | E | 11.6K words
Jongin is perfectly happy wearing his wrinkled flannel and listening to grunge music in his friend’s basement, at least until the beautiful new student Sehun arrives and makes him question everything.

Attention Passengers, this is the Train Station Master! By popular vote, the Ticket Booth hours have been extended an extra month! This extended claiming period will start on September 6 and end on October 6, giving those who have been thinking about coming aboard the Train extra time to decide and maybe even claim a Ticket/Prompt. All of the Ticket Booth Rules from our previous post will still apply, so make sure you read that here before getting started. Please see below for a bit of extra information on Late Claiming:

Extended Ticket Booth Hours:
  1. Anyone who claims a Ticket during the Late Claiming Period must still abide by the original Ticket Booth Rules.
  2. Self-Prompting will also be open until the last day for Late Claiming!
  3. If a Passenger claims a Ticket or Self-Prompts during the Late Claiming Period, they will not be required to submit a draft to the first Check-In on October 7, but they must submit drafts to the following Check-In periods.
  4. Betas will still be available to those who claim late as well!
  5. For those who have already claimed a prompt + have submitted the final draft of their first prompt and would like to claim another prompt, please use the form provided below! Please note that if you are claiming a second, third or even a fourth prompt, you do not have to submit to any of the Check-Ins (but you can if you would like to!), all that we ask is that you complete the fic by the deadline.
  6. The Extra Ticket Claim form only requires one Ticket/Prompt number. You can use the same form to submit a self-prompt as your next Ticket as well.
  7. Remember that in order to claim a second/third/etc. prompt, that you must have submitted your completed previous prompt before claiming the next!

Thank you for your attention Passengers! Friendly reminder to read our Train Etiquette Guide and our Train Warnings & Safety Procedures here before boarding the Train. Late Ticket/Prompt Claiming is open from September 6, 2017 at 12:00 am (0:00) ADT until October 6, 2017 at 11:59 pm (23:59) ADT.  All Aboard The Timeline Express!

Introduction

Welcome to Timeline Station where your Train Conductors will guide you to your historical destination! The Conductors would like to welcome you to board the Timeline EXOpress, a Historical AU, EXO-centric fic fest! From the early bronze age until the 21st century, we are here to help you find your way to your favourite time period along the Timeline Railway.

Train Etiquette Guide
  • Fics must be Historical AU!
  • Minimal word count: 2000 words, no maximum! We would love to see longer stories, so write as much as you can/want!
  • OCs are not permitted to board the Train!
  • If we receive no check-in on the designated date, we will contact you once a week until the next check-in. If more than 2-3 weeks have passed with no contact, we will drop your claimed prompt.

*****Underage marriage is accepted as long as there are not romantic/sexual relationships between a character under 18 and a character over 18.

2. These themes will not be permitted under any circumstances, regardless of their historical accuracy: pedophilia*, explicit incestual smut**, non-con.

All aboard the Timeline Express!

Welcome!

Welcome to Timeline Station! The Train Conductors would would like to welcome you to board the Timeline EXOpress, a historical!AU, EXO-centric fic fest! From the early bronze age all the way up until 2000, and everything in-between (i.e. The Roman empire, Kievan Rus', Joseon Korea, Revolutionary America, war-torn Europe, etc.), we welcome any and all historical fics! The Train Conductors are here to guide you to your destination, whenever that may be!

Introduction

We are Mods Snow❄️ and Lemon🍋, and we are here to bring you a riveting ride on the EXOpress Railway! We have both been writers and readers in previous fests; however, we decided on a whim to host our own!
One day, I was talking to Mod ❄️, and asked "how do you even write historical fantasy?" and she replied, "I'm not entirely sure." From there, we continued to discuss historical!AU fics and how much we loved them. However, we were not sure if a historical!AU fest had ever been done before. Thus, with our mutual love of history, EXO, and writing/reading, we decided one night to start a ficfest, and, well, look at where we are now!

We hope that you will join us and board our magical train and travel through history with many other writers/readers riding along!

Lots of love and luck to you, Passengers! ChooChoo🚂

-Mod ❄️ and Mod 🍋
